High School Senior Suspended for (1) one year for Sexual Harassment, He was caught on a video recording Hugging a Female Teacher. Do you think this is a fair punishment? How would you feel if your child came home and told you they had been suspended for this?
Kim Pribilla They said he has a record of other offenses. Turn the situation around - her teaching career would b over.
Melissa Hein There has to be more to this story because a simple hug should not need to be warned about or taken to this type of punishment. These kids getting told they can't hug or touch in anyway is going to turn them into sneaky people that have to hide every thing they do. What's next little kids can't hold hands with teachers to stay with them while walking to their classroom!
Kristine A Zettlemoyer Adkins I think one year is over the top ! That would like a parent saying to their kids; Well we didn't spank you all year for your bad deeds, so we are now just going to give you the electric chair !! the school didn't take corrective action if or when the other "bad" actions were brought to light, so to pile the punishment into one massive action is too much. Come on, it was JUST A HUG, and if they felt as though they needed to take action wouldn't 30 days have served the same purpose???
Debra Jillard I feel this was a bit extreme. Why does our society always go to extremes? Times have so changed and this is a sign of it. Ruin the kids schooling for a hug?
Kim Pribilla She did try to push him away s seen on the video. She also is expected to stay professional in her reaction - and she did.
Melissa HeinMy daughters entire preschool class should be suspended if that's how it is going to be since they hug each other when they get to school and see their friends!
WQLVfmbut the parents did not anything about it. If your child has done something that was going to warrent a 1 year suspension dont you think they should know about it?
WQLVfmstory said she had warned him before that hugging teachers was inappropriate. but no as of now she is not
Joshua Nearhoof The teacher being the adult should be the one held accountable. I find it hard to believe she could not stop him or at least attempt to.
Nicole Yeagley Just like that story last week of the six year old boy getting in trouble for kissing a hand. If it was like this when I was young, lots of kids would have been in trouble!
Nicole Hansen I would never want to be a teacher in todays society. A standard hug isn't inappropriate or out of line, and in some case, the only form of kindness or sensitivity some kids experience. The people on here blaming the teacher sound exactly like the parents that don't take responsibility for their children's behavior. This young man made it inappropriate with HIS actions, he should be held accountable. That being said, I would need to see justification for a year long suspension and an outline of their sexual harassment policy for everyone.
Michelle Rickert Witmer You can't compare it to last weeks story about the 6 year old. This boy was a HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR. By that age, he should know better.
Michelle Rickert Witmer I read the story yesterday and it said he was cheek to cheek and his lips came in contact with the back of her neck. It was a totally inappropriate thing to do and he should be punished. A year sounds a bit much but we don't know what his behavior has been like in the past.
Nicole Yeagley Of course! They should have known right away!
Nicole Yeagley Well,if she had warned him, and he still did it, yeah, I would think he would have some type of punishment!
Nicole Yeagley Did the teacher get in trouble? I would think the teacher should have gotten in trouble. She should know better.

There is little difference in the amount of violence between PG-13 and R-rated movies these days. Should there be tighter restrictions? We want to know your thoughts!
Scott Cornelious Ultimately the decision should be up to the parents which movie their children are permitted to see or not. However I'm not naive enough to believe that kids aren't going to sneak into movies that their parents do not want them to see therefore I figure that there should be no distinction between pg-13 and rated R movies when it comes to violence. Leave the PG rating in place for adult situations like nudity language that sort of thing, but in all reality what 13 year old has not seen or heard something about that stuff already
Debra Jillard I feel it is up to the parents to teach their children. I have never restricted movies I went by the rule If you make a big deal out of something it will be just that. Parents should teach their children about idolizing in proper ways. Not actors/actresses or sports figures. Idolize yourself be the best you you can be. So keep the ratings.
Chris Griffen No restrictions. The rating system is corrupt. Watch "This film is not yet rated."

6 year old boy Suspended for Sexual Harassment for kissing another little girls cheek… What are your thoughts? Has anything like this ever happened to you?
Brandi Geyer Ridiculous! If every boy that chased and kissed me at Enders Fisherville Elementary when I was a young student was suspended, the school would have been empty! Lol! Kids will be kids! Let them be. His actions harmed no one.
Jeremy W Brumfield It was rescinded. It was labeled as misconduct instead, but you don't know the past history of that child. I am sick of national news criticizing school decisions when they only have half of the story because school can't comment. personally, I wouldn't want a germey little kid kissing my child.
Vanessa Bani Now if he pulled her or his pants down I can see that, but a small harmless peck on the cheek... Oh my, lets kick em out for some germs getting passed around... Please! Poor kid... Schools need to worry about bullies, like themselves!!!! Really!
Susan Snyder Ziegler My daughter comes home and tells me that she likes a boy and may want to marry him-- Then says, "I guess I have to kiss him to let him know that I love him- like you and daddy do" -- she is in a 3 year old preschool.... Inappropriate--I don't think so!! I wrote it in her baby book and thought it was sweet!
Marla Steele Absolutely ridiculous...they have now removed "sexual harassment" from his record, and replaced it with inappropriate behavior...but he is 6 yrs old. I really think the school's reaction to this is way over the top.

Should middle schools have an equal play time rule for sports, allowing all kids equal playing time in the games?
Scott Cornelious No this rule should be reserved for recreational leagues. At some point we might as well teach kids that life isn't fair, there are winners and losers, and some kids are more talented at things (sports) than other kids are.
Debra Jillard "Team " means everyone not a "chosen" few.
Debra Jillard Seriously? Does anyone sign up for a sport not to play? I have never heard of this. My son is 11 he knows a lot about football and basketball This summer he trained at camp in NY with the NY Knicks coach. Why would he want to sit and do nothing after all that? Talk about squashing a kids dream? If they sign up they want to play not sit on the sideline and watch. A team is made up of all players. It should never be well so and so is better than you.
Bobby Mears No we do that and all of a sudden they are thrown into the real world unprepared for real life and we as adults have done a disservice to our children by not preparing them for disappointment and lives hardships because we the adults wanted everyone to do something they physically or mentally can’t. Do on the same level as another. Try out.......great don't make it well try harder next year or keep searching for your niche.
Susan Osman- Warford Agree100 percent with Scott we coddle kids way too much. If you want a spot on the field you have to earn it!! Some kids put all their heart and sole into becoming a good player and spend many hours even in the off season bettering them self so the couch potato that comes out for a sport just because shouldn't automatically get to play until they prove they deserve a spot on the field!!
Tim Dunchock You play games to win not to lose you put the best players on field or court. Other kids get into band or sewing class

Should we BAN teachers from interacting with students via social networking websites?
Nick Cunningham Definitely.. When I was in high school all of my teachers were very strict about who they add on Facebook (i.e. their students). but now I’m out of school and friends with a couple of my teachers from school. I'm sure schools do have a policy for their employees and talking to students outside of school.
Jessie Butcher Most school systems already have strict policies.
Danielle Stoll I would say they should be able to talk to whomever they chose. But then again there is the issue of will this cause favoritism and would the student try to use the friendship to get better grades than they deserve and what happens if they get angry at that teacher I can see all kinds of issues forming. There has to be limits somewhere but then again if by that teacher reaching out to the student outside of school as well as during school what life could they impact in a positive way.
Elizabeth MacIntosh definitely---too much butt kissing going on so it is and I knew a girl when she was in high school her mother babysat for a teacher and she would tell her what to study for tests---totally wrong
Colby Brandt Yes! Leave no room for question, people get comfortable then lines get crossed.
Shelby Minier Yes!!! It crosses way too many boundaries. So does texting between students and teachers. It sure isn't like when I was in school.

If you could choose the sex of your next child.. Would you choose or be surprised? What would you choose and why?
Scott Cornelious A healthy child that is loved is what I would choose.
Thomas Sanford I'm not going to chime in on this one. Pretty sure at my age, if I mentioned our next child, The Mrs. would find a way for ME to have the child!
Vanessa Bani Only if we would become pregnant again(hopefully not) we would choose a boy... We have 3 girls n Kayne, he already said he wants a lil brother to play with lol but we told him 4, is plenty of children in this household :) he has lots of boy cousins too get into trouble with ;)
Brandy Paul I would choose a girl because we have 3 boys and one girl, I really want another girl and I wish we could choose..... :(
Danielle Stoll I’m not sure I would want to chose. Should we really be messing with the grand design?

Should Black Friday sales start on Thanksgiving Thursday? Let us know why you do or why you do not think it should.
Debra Jillard Thanksgiving is a day of giving thanks for what you do have. It is not about shopping. Its sad that corporate America has commercialized everything.
Kristy Fosselman No! It's a family day, and with families living farther apart it may be one of the only days a whole family may be together. It is not an eat and run day! No fast food at my house!

School fired volunteer football coach for taking his team to Hooters for their end of the season Awards dinner that the kids choose to go to as a reward for a great season, the coach made it a non-school sanctioned event. Would you let your... child go on a trip to Hooters with his coach? Do you think he should have been fired for having this party there?
Scott Cornelious I do not think this coach should have been fired, if this was the choice of the team as a whole ( they are teenage boys). It would be a decision that the parents would have to make whether or not to allow their children to go. Personally I have no problem allowing my children to go.
Jeremy W Brumfield it shows immaturity and poor judgment, I think the bigger problem is that he refused to listen to reason, defying the school administrator. it sounds like he was trying to be fun and popular with children.
Debra Jillard As a mother of 5 sons I learned that if you make a big deal out of something it will be just that. It is a restaurant why focus on what society feels is the negative. My sons saw me naked already. Its not a big deal.
Ray Earnest I was only ever in one Hooters where the clothing was overly suggestive. No more than the team would have seen every day. Speaking of every day, I kept checking on that one Hooters to monitor the situation.(:-)
Danielle Stoll you spelled coach wrong lol in any case though I am undecided as to whether I would let my child go or not I don't think I would because when I hear about hooters I think that is more of an adult place rather than a place for young teenage men
Joshua Nearhoof the difference between hooters and the beach is the whole purpose of hooters is to sexualize women. the beach does no such thing. that being said I would not have objected to it as the kids see more revealing outfits at the swimming pool or mtv. You can see more in a pg-13 movie.

Pennsylvania Mother Court ordered to stop breast feeding so the farther can have overnight visitation. Do you agree with this judgment? Is this fair to the child? What do you think of this court judgment?
Kelly Lilly and its not really about breast vs bottle - all babies are different, all parents do things different. This is whats best for the child. The judicial system (govt included) keep interfering and setting guidelines for parents on how to "parent", "feed", "raise", etc their child. Why would a judge need to dictate how or what to feed a child. This child is comfortable and thriving with breastfeeding. This is probably a male judge who made this decision. I guess if dad really wants to have the best interest in the child, he should look into purchasing a "male" breast feed system where he can feed the baby just like mom would do up close and personal. Seriously, whats next (bc ive heard it all literally)? I guess womens rights are still obsolete in the judicial system unless I guess if I want to vote or get a job. Womens right obviously dont extend to mothers knows best parenting.
Kelly Lilly Pardon my language but that's total bs! No judge should be able to dictate that! Each child is different - some refuse breastfeeding, some refuse pacifiers and bottles. There are other ways for the "father" to spend time with his child other than over nights. What's the big deal with him wanting the child overnight? Why didn't he fight for overnights when the child was 1 month or 3 months, etc... Yes, judge let's send an infant who refuses a bottle, and will be upset at a home that they aren't familiar with and will most likely cry more than usual because of fright and hunger. Good combo for a parent or relative or whoever will be caring for the child to potentially be abused. My daughter is 4 1/2 months and just now started taking a bottle but we went through about 10 different ones until we got her to try one with breast milk and pacifiers you can forget it. Some babies don't like silicone or latex nipples. These judges who preside over custody cases are getting a little ridiculous and needs to stop creating some fantasy parenting plan. I guess they're just too old to remember exactly what it's like to have an infant and the struggles that comes with it when the baby won't sleep or nothing soothes them or teething fussiness. This outrages me to no end! I could go on and on about this topic!
Ashley Lynn Palmer I may not be a parent, but honestly that is crazy. First off not only because of the bond a mother who breastfeeds has with their child, breastfeeding isn't just good for the child it is also good for the mother. If a judge is going to take something like that from a child what is this world coming to? Honestly there are ways of working around this completely irrational custody plan. If the father wants overnights with the child maybe he should talk about a breast pump or some way to make it easy for the child.
Brittany Marie Norman I can't wait for him to not get any sleep and return the child in the middle of the night!
Laci Stadheim I think the judge was wrong and it isn't fair to the child. Lets face it breast feeding is a healthier option for the child that the mother chose to do. Plus nursing only lasts for usually a year so I think the father could sacrifice over nights visits for while for the health of his child.
Shannon Wallace-Bordner WRONG!!!!! so so wrong!!!! the benefits of nursing are numerous. and what gives that judge the right to make that decision. nursing requires so dedication on the mothers part and for that judge to throw it all away is huge slap on the face. and the father, shame on him!! he should support his child's mother's decision to nurse! what kind of father doesn't want the best for his child.(and yes nursing is the best its been medically proven)
Kristine A Zettlemoyer Adkins I saw this woman on TV, the child is at least eight months old and had teeth. Surely, the child can eat baby food, and I know she is feeding her juice of some kind ?? Her breast only dispense one kind of fluid and it isnt apple juice, so come on, really ??

Should Girls be allowed to wrestle on the boys team at the Middle and High School levels or is it inappropriate for boys and girls to be on the same team at that age group? Chime in this morning and tell us what you think should happen with the wrestling program’s you can post on Facebook or call us at 717-692-9758
Bobbi ReedIt should be a decision that is made by each girl and her family. I would not want my daughter to wrestle boys at her age but if she had a burning desire to do it, she should be allowed. I don't see there being enough interest in our local schools to support an all-girl team. The argument against it due to "touching sensual body parts" is ridiculous. Are they going to keep gay and/or bisexual boys from wrestling? Nope, that would be illegal. If the boys and/or coach who are wrestling have dirty thoughts in their mind, well, who do you think is responsible for that? Like I said, I would not like it for my daughter but I would support her and expect her to be allowed to pursue her interest regardless of her gender.
Debra JillardI feel gender should never be an issue when it comes to sports. If someone is passionate about the sport they will give it their all.
Tara TysonIf a girl wants to wrestle then she should be explained the facts. My daughter has wrestled in elementary and I told her that the boys will end up touching areas in her " no-no square" but they are not doing it on purpose. If it is done off the mats then that is a problem. Its as simple as educating both boys and girls on the subject. I will let my daughters do what they want to do sport wise. They should not be limited because of their gender. I was actually a very good welder in high school but was told not to pursue that because it is not a "womans job".
Theresa Marie SpathNo. Even if it is her desire to wrestle, the boys shouldn't treat a girl that way. Nor should they be subjected to the discomfort of having her so close to their bodies, regardless of her proclaimed comfort level. This is a sexual harassment suit in progress!
Angie LeshkoMy daughter wants to play football and wrestle too... She did play on a boys soccer team already and she plays football in town with the boys ... She also likes to weld :) she is 12 and told me she wants to be a quarterback lol I tell her ... You go for it... Just remember if you get hurt I don't want to hear you crying... They are boys.. You play with the boys suck it up and act like a boy :) lol The is no crying in football lol
Tara TysonSounds exactally like what I told my daughters. My 13 yr old is the one who has wrestled and she wanted to play football. Sadly there is a limit on what she can do now since being told she has a form of JRA. My 9 yr old daughter wants to play football. She has cheered for 2 years and said there is to much drama lol.
Melissa HeinMy 4 yr old daughter asked me if when she is older she could wrestle I said sure. That was not just to make her happy I was serious. Their are girls on football teams so I don't see the issue. Besides men wanting to keep girls from truly being able to do whatever they want to in life. If we don't want our daughters and sons to be and do whatever they want in life we should go back to the 1950 life style where women/girls cook, sew, clean and play dolls only. I set up huge party tents for a living and when a man says I shouldn't be swinging the sledge hammer it just makes those steaks go into the ground so much easier!
Tim DunchockNope they should have a girls wrestling team though
Angie LeshkoTara that is why mine wants on boys team... No drama just sports :) she quit Tball when they told her she HAD to play softball with the girls :-(

She could not and would not have been able to build such a enterprise if she had continued with such a frame of mind. Therefore, I believe all those around and associated with her are knee-jerking to this news. They should have perhaps discussed this with her and then publicly reprimanded her, but reiterated that they still stand behind her. All this, in time, will pass. Scott wrote...I think homeschooling could be beneficial if all parties are committed and the kids were exposed to outside activities that would teach them social interaction with other kids. I remember growing up that people always referred to it as "single child syndrome". They had no social interaction with other children and did not know how to act in a social situation.
Marla wrote...We've been homeschooling for the last 17 yrs. Our children don't get lost in the shuffle. It is my view that they often times know alot more than their public school counterparts. We have a flexible schedule...and generally,we can finish school work in about 4-5 hours...as compared to a child who has to ride a bus...go to school/change classes, etc...who is away at least 8 hrs...and then oftentimes, has homework. The laws have changed...the children are also allowed to participate in the schools extra curricular activities (sports, dances, etc). Children can also take classes at school that may interest them, but take the bulk of classes at home.
